Why are student hostels preferred over paying guests?
Hostels are generally places where students come to
stay and which is administered by some supervisors. Hostels are made with the
objective of providing an affordable means of accommodation and a healthy
environment. You will generally find dormitories or bunk beds and a common
bathroom and kitchen for all. You will definitely not have a luxurious
lifestyle in a hostel as all are treated equally irrespective of their family
background.
Benefits of hostels
There are various reasons why student hostels are chosen over paying guest accommodations most of
the time. Some of the reasons are as follows:
- A hostel gives a friendly or sociable atmosphere for study. The students who take their studies seriously may learn a lot from others.
- Hostels are stricter than paying guests. Students have to follow all the rules and regulations and have to things according to the time table. These things are generally not present in the other accommodations.
- Students in hostels become more punctual and regular.
- Students in hostels are generally of the same age and class and they can borrow all the necessary book and copies whenever they want.
- Not only these, they learn many morals of life from their fellow roommates.
- They learn to be self reliant and also learn how to save money and use it at the necessary expenses.
- One of the most important things which students learn is that to help everyone when in need. They also learn to share things with one another. This helps to create fellow feeling.
- Student hostels are affordable means of accommodation. Parents, who are not that economically well of can also keep their child in hostel unlike paying guests or PGs. Also, hostels provide a student friendly environment.
- Hostels are among the safest places to stay for out station students. Parents need not worry about their children. Hostels come up with strict surveillance and well maintained security staff who are in charge of the safety of the students. The only thing which should be taken care of by the students is their belongings. Belongings can often get displaced as many people live together.
It
has often been found that hostels don’t encourage a private life. You will
never have privacy while staying in a hostel unlike a PG or any other form of
accommodation. But this is considered to be a good practice. Hostel life
encourages more of social interaction among the fellow hostellers as they have
many things to share in common.
